| NVG-
Night Vision Goggles |
- NVG
intensifies ambient light 5000 times
- NVG’s
substantially enhance our safety for night flights by allowing
us to see clearly in the dark with 20/25 vision.
- The
brightest light while wearing NVG is red light.
- Everything
you see through the NVG is green (monochromatic)
- Our
EC-135 is certified by the FAA to use NVG and we have been
flying with NVG since September of 2004
- Eagle-III
was the 13th program in the
USA
certified to fly NVG commercially
- All
of our pilots and crew chiefs are trained in the use of NVG’s
- The
Goggles we use are ANVIS-9 Pinnacles made by ITT industries
- The
ANVIS-9’s have a 40 degree field of view and optical lenses
- The
ANVIS-9’s give much better image clarity than the older NVG
models
- The
ANVIS-9’s have 25 mm lenses, older models only had 18mm
lenses.
- They
operate off of two AA batteries and the batteries last
approximately 55 hours.
- Total
weight with battery pack and ballast is about 1 pound
- The
NVG’s mount on our helmets and have a quick disconnect system
- When
lifting off from our helipad in
Green Bay
on a clear night we can see the airplanes in the traffic pattern
in
Minneapolis
with the NVG’s
